SAMALA MEZA
Samala Meza (b. 1996) is a Los Angeles based painter whose work uses abstraction to examine how the female form is structured and perceived. Drawing from the color field tradition, she creates expansive compositions where recurring openings and voids act as simplified icons of the self, referencing bodily and psychological vulnerability while resisting literal depiction. Her work balances restraint with a subtle satirical edge, treating painting as a system that transforms exposure into a controlled assertion of power.
