Nicolette Mishkan (b. 1986) is a Los Angeles based painter and first generation Iranian American who graduated from Otis College of Art and Design in 2008. Her work constructs a mythological world where traditional structures of power are reimagined. Centered around the figure of the mermaid, her paintings explore duality, desire, and transformation, examining relationships to the body and paternal consciousness. Mishkan’s work has been exhibited exhaustively across the globe, most recently completing a solo exhibition at Megan Mulrooney in Los Angeles.
