JESSALYN BROOKS

Jessalyn Brooks (b. 1984) is a Los Angeles based artist and jazz singer who portrays the female form through bold, colorful abstraction. Inspired by the geometric lines of Cubism, Brooks’s paintings have a vibrant and modern female-focus; bringing forth an important question of beauty ideals, body shape and gender. Further informed by the romance of industry, including machinery, shape, volume, and movement, her work examines the body at large as a site of power, symbolism, and spirituality. Brooks has been exhibited in murals and galleries across the globe.
