CLAUDIA MARIN
Claudia Marin (b. 1999; London, United Kingdom) is a Spanish-German visual artist currently residing in Los Angeles, California. Marin received her BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2022. Marin works serially, creating stylistically distinct bodies of work that probe unsettling feminine subjects, both psychic and social, across a variety of media. Merging the act of drawing with the principles of painting and the combined practices of photography and found images, Marin continually grapples with potent narratives surrounding the feminine form, perception, and identity. Rooted deeply in the ethos of her art is a critical exploration of power, desire, and transformation. Through recurring imagery of swans, Marin examines how vulnerability and violence coexist - in mythology, in physical intimacy, in the act of looking inward. Her work disrupts romanticized narratives of grace and beauty, revealing the rawness, struggle, and unexpected tenderness within moments of contact and conflict.
